Thoughts on a Sunday Evening

I have never been to Greece before...

But Scotland certainly looks appealing! (Thanks, Brave, for reintroducing me)

-I've been abandoning you for all the wrong reasons!
-Mi dispiace.
-If anything, I should be abandoning you because I'm too busy, not because I'm less busy.
-The latter is unbelievable.
-Hello, is there any work out there for a slightly inexperienced post grad student out there??
-Anybody?
-I've been asking this question for the past 6+ months.
-Where are you??
-I need a really good jinx.
-Jinx!
-Funny word, so tis.
-But when I feel down and out about the woes of the hunt, I read this to feel better.
-Yes, it does help.
-I need to do my nails.
-Painting them something bright and funky sounds pretty good.
-Which reminds me of how much I want to get one of the ballet inspired colours from OPI.
-You calling me a Lyre?
-As nice as the colour is, I can't really figure out why they used that particular name to relate to ballet, when the rest of them do.
-If anyone out there happens to know, do tell.
-What interesting job that would be, coming up with names for nail polishes.
-I could go with a Beatles-inspired line of polishes.
-St. Jean Baptiste Day.
-Aka, Midsummer Day.
-A la Midsummer Night's Dream?
-Possibly Shakespeare's most magical production.
-I learnt a lot of things about that in theatre class.
-Like, the play-within-a-play theme.
-In fact, I'm pretty sure I still have the classroom slides of it on my computer.
-Man, the 1935 film (which I've only sort of seen) version was something wild.
-But spectacular, and ever-so sparkly (fairies! fairies!).
-As for the 1998 version... I guess so, as I can't remember too much of it.
-Other than the fact it had some big names in it.
-Kevin Kline as the ASS.
-No, literally.
-But I digress.
-Colours.
-I wish things were more technicoloured.
-Sloth.
-Cute, but weird.
-Bet you didn't see that one coming.
-And if so, you must be psychic.
-While looking up sloth videos, I find an escaping octopus, and go from there to walking gorillas with dramatic music playing in the background.

I suppose that's it for now. Unless something interesting things/ideas pop up this week, I'll probably be back here next week blogging my thoughts out. As per usual.

Ice, Ice, Baby

Hello! Well, seeing as we (meaning central Canada and elsewhere) are in the midst of a heat wave, (and because I've been running short of blogging ideas lately) here's something to watch if you can't take the heat. Imagine yourself in the Atlantic ocean. In the winter. Surrounded by icebergs, and listening to Philip Glass. Brrrrr.

Thoughts on Friday

The lovely Ann Rutherford, 1917-2012

-I feel as if I'm melting like a snow cone in Phoenix.
-Have had this song stuck in my head thanks to that Nestle Iced Tea commercial.
-Now I've passed it on to you.
-Enjoy!
-The only thing that compensates for that silly ad is how pleasant Mama Cass' voice is to listen to.
-Good lord, that old bitty probably was a hippy herself back in the day.
-The glorious 1960s.
-The Miracle Worker.
-Have never seen it in its entirety except for the famous water scene (amazing!), but as I watch it now, it's quite intense.
-But now having seen the bit in the dining room, whaaaat.
-Hard to imagine what Helen Keller and Ann Sullivan went through together themselves.
-But as a result there was an amazing accomplishment.
-And bond between them, of course.
-What do you get when you take a raggedy wheaten to the doggy groomer and get him cut?
-A totally different animal in his place.
-Although I'm afraid that he's been more than just cut.
-Shaved, if you will.
-But don't tell my sister that just yet.
-Shhhhhh.
-He still looks sweet, though!
-May post pictures, eventually.
-I feel kind of badly if he feels bare.
-But so far, he seems ok.
-Our two other dogs didn't know what to make of him!
-What confidence he has.
-When I go walking with him, no one will recognize him for the teddy bear he used to be.
-At least he'll be cooler as the days get warmer.
-Brain fart.
-Excuse moi.
-All fair in love and war.
-I want to go swimming.
-Maybe this weekend, when the temp is blazing.
-It's getting betteeeeerrr...
-And when I come out sweating buckets from my ballet class.
-It's getting strooongeeeer!
-Ok, now this is getting a bit much.
-Serious excitement going on tonight!
-Wish I were in Niagara Falls tonight to see it play out.

Thoughts on a Friday

Aww, I'll miss these guys together!

-What a weird week it has been.

-News wise, and other.
-Really weird, with all that's been going on.
-Full of murder, mayhem, and planetary shifting.
-Sometimes--no, actually most times--I can't really understand why people do the things they do.
-Oh God Lane, why???
-You had a wife and son!
-I know you did wrong, but all you had to do was ask for help.
-Sorry folks. Spoilers!
-And Sally... How I feel for you.
-You never forget your first.
-But I say no more.
-Transit of Venus?
-There really must have been a planetary shift, even amongst the Mad Men characters.
-Just from the pictures I saw of this alleged transit, it made me remember how GARGANTUAN THE SUN IS in comparison to every thing in this solar system.
-Zoinks! As Shaggy would say.
-Now I'm always reminded of that Doctor Who episode where he and Martha find out the sun is a living thing.
-And of course, humans are sucking the life out of it to get to it's oil.
-Typical human beings.
-That would be a blow to the noggin to learn that the sun is a living organism.
-Can organism be used in that context?
-Hmm.
-I was chatting with someone who somehow knows all the movements of the planets, and he was saying that with this transit of Venus and something about Jupiter/Pluto/Neptune (can't remember which) passing over, it has been affecting the energy of people and animals here on earth.
-Plus interessant.
-But the movement of the planets confuses me, as interesting as it is.
-Do you feel any different?
-Me? Nooo.
-If you read horoscopes (like I do, wahwah) apparently it's supposed to be a good change.
-The music I'm currently listening to does not suit my mood. Must. Turn. Off.
-But can't be bothered to get up.
-Oh thank god, it's finished.
-I must sample this cake immediately!
-Ditto with these donuts.
-And can I just mention these cookies, too?
-I baked some banana cake last week, but it was eaten too quickly for a picture to be taken.
-But it was trés delicious.
-Maybe next time.
-The sound of your phone about to die is never good.
-Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream... It is not dyyying.

Running Away from Camera

What a great idea for a blog--timing your camera for two seconds and running as far away from it as possible. Sounds like something I would do. (But wouldn't, hehe.)
