Thoughts on a Friday to carry me into the Weekend

cute, hot chocolate, mini, ooh cake time
Where can I find a mug like this??

-It's only a Paper Moon.
-Or a cheese moon.
-Or this.
-Bleeeeh! Says the Moon, as the spaceship plows into its eye.
-Ouch, I say.
-Thinking.
-C'est la Vie.
-I remember having to do a jazz dance to that song when I was ten.
-I think I've mentioned this before, however.
-And another one to Pink's Get this Party Started.
-I cringe whenever I hear that come on the radio.
-But I've probably mentioned that before, too.
-Weddings.
-Apparently they are calling for a bit of snow overnight here.
-Titanic!
-I think I want to see this in theatres for the sake of novelty, seeing as I missed out on it the first time in 97'.
-And I wanted red hair like Rose's when I saw it later on.
-Still wouldn't mind it, actually.
-Can I say how awesome Kate Winslet is??
-She's just so.... Nice.
-And modest.
-Why do I feel like there's something significant about March the 30th.
-I'd love some gelato right now.
-I'd love to be in Italy even more so.
-The Hobbit.
-Started reading it.
-And I'm so fucking excited to see the movie next December I had to use an expletive.
-I don't think my computer liked that.

March is going out like a lion!

(*Ok, not necessarily 1920s, but I saw this in Hugo a few weeks ago and enjoyed it too much not to add it in.)

Also not authentically 1920s, but...

Thoughts on a Friday

Clara Bow

-All my thoughts went out the window.
-Literally.
-I miss doing this.
-I miss it more doing it in the Killam between classes.
-I had rain on the brain.
-And Gertrude Stein.
-Particularly, salad: it is a winning cake.
-I could go for some cake.
-Then again, I could always go for some cake.
-I usually bring this up every couple of posts.
-You mind?
-U mad, bro?
-Uuuuuugh I wouldn't even.
-And I'm speaking for both modes of bodily function.
-Pffft, good segue from rain.
-You know how some people think listening to rain or a waterfall makes them have to go? That's what I was thinking of.
-Dribbles.
-Haha.
-lol!
-I hate using that.
-God forbid that I ever get that comfortable in front of my future BF.
-However, I will go as far as to use a whoopee cushion.
-I have something planned out, in fact.
-How I look forward to that day.
-Should it ever come.
-Mad Men.
-This weekend.
-Yay!
-I kind of want to see Sally Draper lean toward more hippy-like tendencies.
-The actress who plays her, Kiernan Shipka, reminds me a bit of Emma Watson.
-I wonder if she ever gets that.
-Watched a bit of Meet Joe Black the other day, and holy shmoly Brad Pitt was good looking.
-No wonder all the girls adored him.
-And why he tries to play it down 90% of the time these days.
-Hmm, the gift of looks as both a blessing and a curse.
-Think about that this weekend.
-Tra la!

Dem pants!
Also finally jumped on to the Downton Abbey bandwagon! Kind of love this scene.

Cream Scones

Even better with jam.

This recipe will blow every other scone recipe out of the water. Really. They are just that good. I say no more.

Classic Cream Scones
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, chilled
  • 1/2 cup heavy (whipping) cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup currants (optional)
Glaze (optional): 1 egg mixed with a teaspoon of water

Preheat oven to 425*F. Lightly butter baking sheet.

In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut butter in 1/2 inch cubes and distribute them over the flour mixture. With a pastry blender or two knives used in scissors fashion, cut the butter until the mixture resembles course crumbs.

In a small bowl stir together cream, egg and vanilla. Add the cream mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined. Stir in currants if desired.

With lightly floured hands, pat the dough into 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured cutting board. Using a 2 1/2 inch diameter round biscuit cutter, or a glass, cut out rounds of the dough and place them on a prepared baking sheet. Gather scraps together and repeat until all the dough is used. Lightly brush scones with egg mixture, if desired.

Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until browned.

Let cool for five minutes. Using a spatula, transfer scones to a wire rack to cool. Serve warm, or cool completely and store in an airtight container.
Food porn. Bow chica wow wow.

Music for a Tuesday Afternoon

Here's to some peaceful rainy days to help those flowers grow! (Although right now, the weather is lovely as it is.)

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

childrensbooks:

The Lorax, Dr. Seuss
Indeed I saw it, indeed I did! It was better than I thought, who am I to kid?
I liked the art, and a few of the voices, though I think the director made a mistake for some of his choices.
It starred Zac Efron and Taylor Swift; though because she didn't have as significant a role, I'll admit I was rather miffed!
Some songs were fun, and some were sad, and sometimes they were very bad.
The movie had a point, so future generations take heed! What saved the day was a single seed!
Because if you don't, you will have heard, chopping down trees is highly absurd!
No more plants, no more trees--good God, where are all the bees??!
The animals were cute, the Lorax imploring. Although those singing fish were rather annoying...
This rhyming scheme came easier than I thought; Dr. Seuss, how could I have forgot??
I'll have to stop, sooner or later, I can't think of anything else to rhyme except for 'gator'.
I'll be back soon! Just wait and be patient, don't be a goon.
Inspiration will hit, though I don't know when.
Maybe with a recipe, or dream, or...
A move review, yet again!

1960s Dance Partay

I forget how I found this. I like the song, but the dancing in this video is pretty laughable...

Thoughts on a Friday

Tumblr_lzmea0cpqg1qj69hdo1_500_large
-I'm baaack.
-It's been awhile since I've done one of these.
-Especially on a Friday.
-Back to regular programming?
-Maybe, depending on how inspired I am.
-Or how active my daily adventures are.
-Which have so far, been few.
-Sad-nass.
-Like when one of my dogs ran out the front door the other day, right before we had to take another one of our dogs to the vet.
-What.a.sneak.
-It would certainly make a funny story, though.
-You know, when three people are trying to catch him with a treat and a leash, and he keeps running up the street and on to other people's lawns.
-And your mother is having a fit because we are running late.
-We ended up trapping him in the garage.
-Just goes to show that our household is never dull when there are dogs.
-Never.
-And that's not even the first time he's gotten out the front door.
-When in doubt, lure with food.
-In onesies!
-Somewhere out there, Kristen Bell is bawling her eyes out because of this.
-I still want to see an Ellen show.
-And meet Ellen.
-And sit in her guest chair.
-And share a few jokes.
-That should be one of my life goals.
-Along with attending the Oscars.
-And the Vanity Fair after party.
-Wah-wah.
-Apparently there are some strict rules when it comes to celebs at the after party.
-Like randomly approaching them to say hello, which absolutely cannot be done.
-But... What if you catch their eye? And they approach you?
-Well, I guess that's allowed.
-Celebrities are special like that.
-But how cool would it be just mingling with that crowd??
-I would just be star struck the whole night.
-Heh, I nearly spelt that as 'hole'.
-I'd like to think I would act as normal and as casual as ever if I were amongst celebrities, but I know this likely wouldn't happen.
-In fact, I'd possibly just lose my shit upon spotting George Clooney to my right.
-Or Meryl Streep to my left.
-Meryl Streep's pretty down to earth, though, so I think she'd be easier to deal with.
-Angie's right leg.
-Eesh.
-But I think I would rather lose my shit over Jean Dujardin.
-No, that would be embarrassing.
-I have a lot of thoughts today.
-I guess to make up for the past few Fridays.
-I love the 1940s.
-Such a sophisticated time, even with a war on.
-TCM, where would I be without you?
- I have too many options to choose from in my life, and have no idea where to start.
-Darn, I'm missing this tender moment on tv.
-Eeee, I'm so proud of this woman flying a fighter plane all by herself!
