“There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won’t anymore, and who always will. So don’t worry about people from your past, there’s a reason they didn’t make it to your future.”

My Whirlwind Weekend... A weekend ago

My my, was it ever. Early, early last Friday morning (7:00), I flew off to Halifax NS with my parents in purpose of setting up my bedroom; I go to school out of town, so I'm going to be living in a cute little flat with some friends. We were successful! We moved around the bed and the desk and set them up, cleaned the windows, set up lamps, put up pictures, moved boxes bought things.... A lot of work, but we managed to finish up in a day. Our reward was a lovely steak dinner at the Keg.
So, we managed to turn my room from this:

What the room looked like with its previous owner....

Into this!!!

I am very happy with it. It's much brighter and more cheerful looking without the dark cover over the bed. And I have yet to put up my lovely Audrey Hepburn posters! I shall do that when I return in a few weeks... Which, come to think of it, isn't that far off now. School is coming again! Where oh where the time go??

Another bit of news that I'm excited to share are my new pointe shoes! I've been wanting to take pointe classes since forever, and finally this year will be my opportunity. During my fitting, when I tried them on, it was almost surreal. But it felt amazing :)

A few weekends ago, I visited the ROM with some friends in Toronto to view the Dead Sea Scrolls.

*Not my image!
I brought my camera only to learn that no picture taking was allowed. Darn. But that aside, it was very interesting to learn about them, and really see how much effort it must have taken the person to write it all out. We also saw other artifacts such as pottery and jewellery belonging to Jewish settlements in the Middle East; amazing to think that these items once were used and belonged to somebody so incredibly long ago!

That same weekend, I was supposed to see the band Nickelback; well, I saw the two show openers Papa Roach and Hinder. But no sooner than Hinder had finished, a tempest had blown in from the west and the heavens released a torrential downpour upon the audience of hardcore Nickelback fans! My companions and myself were unfortunate enough to be sitting on the grassy area beyond the amphitheatre, so we got the brunt of it. Thankfully, we were sitting on a fine blue tarp to keep our behinds dry (since it had rained earlier that day) so we pulled it over our heads to keep the rest of us dry. My shoes were not so lucky. Then over the speakers, they announced that Nickelback would be delayed due to the storm, and that the people sitting on the grass return to their cars until things let up. So we did, though there was lots of protesting. But it never did let up, so we ended up going home. But the lightening was spectacular! We later learned that Nickelback fully cancelled their show... Bummer! But despite all, it was really fun.

What else have I been up to?

Getting through my reading material....

While sipping Limade....

While having friends drop by.

Tomorrow, I'm off to an Indian wedding for my cousin. Should make for an interesting time... I wonder if we'll be made to dance to Jai Ho? I haven't even seen Slum Dog Millionaire... Anyways, have a splendid weekend! Will update... Soon.
~M.
